Vintage Egyptian Revival White Scarab Beetle Gold Tone Screw-back Earrings. These earrings are classic examples of Egyptian Revival costume jewelry, a design trend that experienced major resurgences in the 1920’s (following the discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb) and again during the 1950’s to 1970’s. The scarab beetle was an ancient Egyptian symbol representing rebirth, renewal, and protection. The white oval cabochons are carved in the shape of a scarab beetle. They are crafted from lucite/acrylic, which was highly popular during the mid-20th century. Smooth, bezel-set gold-tone metal framing with dangling loop joints. Vintage screw-back mechanisms, which were widely used for non-pierced ears from the early 1900s through the 1950s. Measure just under 1” and are in excellent vintage condition.
