Vintage 1940's Railroad Engineer Workwear Pleated Striped Indigo Cap - Size XL A fantastic and unique piece for any outfit, it's a flat cap from at least the 1940's that would be used by American railroad engineers! Made with a beautifully woven blue and white striped fabric, it has stitching and construction that you wouldn't find from any modern brand, and a classic look to envy. I was able to date this item because of the way it is made and the lack of a WPL number which was introduced by law around 1941 to 1959 (and for RN numbers, starting in 1959) to identify textile products, and I acquired two of these caps - one with a tag, and one without. This is the one without a tag, but I've attached images of the tagged one to add proof to my observation of the WPL/RN number. This cap has some fading from age and storage, and a bit of warping to the material of the brim - it is soft and flexible and can be gently ironed to remove warping - there could be leather or cardboard inside. It is a tight fit for an "XL" size head, I'd recommend this for a head circumference of 58 cm, or anything smaller! If you have more information on this item I'd love to hear that too. True luxury comes from heirloom items with a purpose that are no longer made, and this is definitely worth the price. Please see all images, what you see is what you purchase! Nice reasonably priced package. Has to do a bit of cleanup work on the items, but they were listed as used, so that is to be expected. Great communication and excellent packing. Fast shipper - just wish the USPS wasn't so slow from his locale. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
