She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to parents from Barbados, West Indies and Trinidad, West Indies. Maria who was raised mainly by her late paternal grandmother Dorothy, was introduced at a very young age to the Deliverance Evangelistic Center where she worshipped under the Pentecostal denomination. It was here that she learned about giving back by her missionary work in hospitals, homeless shelters, jails and other facilities that her church visited monthly. Maria has continued in her faith with the Temple of Restoration under the leadership of Bishop Angelo Barbosa. A mother and domestic violence survivor and activist, she has helped countless women with her testimony. She has a passion for people, but specifically women and single mothers and has conducted several self-help workshops that has helped a lot of single mothers who have suffered abuse to begin to live again.
