Oriental Small Blue White Calligraphy Scenery Graphic Porcelain Art Vase GB358 DESCRIPTION This blue and white porcelain vase features a classic baluster-tapered form, characterized by its high, rounded shoulders that gently narrow toward a flat, unglazed base. The exterior is decorated with a continuous underglaze blue landscape (shanshui) rendered in an expressive, painterly style. The scene depicts a serene riverside village with traditional gabled houses nestled beneath towering, misty mountains. A scholar is visible crossing a stone arched bridge, while delicate willow and pine trees anchor the foreground against a backdrop of rolling hills and stylized clouds. The reverse of the vase displays two vertical columns of calligraphy, which quote a famous poem by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai. The text translates to: "The river city is like a painting; in the morning from the mountain, I gaze at the clear sky. Two waters sandwich a bright mirror; twin bridges fall like a slanting rainbow." The glaze has a soft, creamy off-white tone with visible iron spots (pinpricks) and minor kiln firing imperfections, lending the piece a rustic, antique character. The contrast between the deep cobalt tones and the aged glaze highlights the traditional aesthetic of Chinese literati art. Just received my lantern from this seller, it came beautifully packed and protected, not a scratch on it , excellent quality, a little overpriced for my licking, but I bought one from another seller and it looked beautiful in the picture, but when I received it it was badly damaged and I was disappointed, so I guess it was worth paying the extra to get a good one and have it delivered in one piece. Well done. I’m very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend this seller
The product is fine, Shipping is fast, and packaging was well done. I wish the description was clearer to identify whether it was hand painted or not. At this price, I was hoping it was hand painted. I still like it but would like it much more if it was hand painted.
A perfect transaction in every way. Superb communications, best inventory on the planet, and delivery was the best I have experienced. Thank you, look forward to more.
