Beautiful piece of Indigenous Art - Superb quality and guaranteed authentic, coming direct from the artist. 14 1/2" circular hand carved Killer Whale and Raven wooden wall art carving by Squamish (Coast Salish) Indigenous artist Shane Flood Baker. This is a new design, Shane is always presenting something different. I was surprised to see him bringing in this stained round. Absolutely superb quality - you won't find any flaws. Please have a close look at the images even though they don't do it justice. Very detailed, he pays so much attention to details. He explained that he used drop carving and double carving with very deep lines which is a lot more work and takes a lot more time than the traditional carving. Shane was inspired by Don Yeoman who first used the stipple effect in negative spaces, a very special technique. Shane signed and dated it at the back, carved in the front, it's prepared for wall hanging, hanger already attached. The stain is applied on top, the rim is left natural and gives it a nice "frame". An uncommonly pleasing small Northwest Coast carving of a raven, executed with meticulous skill and well balanced and harmonious in design. It’s the work of a younger Coast Salish carver who has clearly imbibed fully the artistic traditions of his culture. The fragile piece was well packed to survive its journey, and seller was helpful and informative about the work being sold. Shipped promptly, too. A very satisfactory transaction. Thank you!
Item received is exactly as described and photographed, packed in bubble wrap with multiple layers of substantial cardboard and paper, price was a very good value for a high quality carving that was received in perfect condition. Beautiful carving was shipped promptly priority mail and tracked and received in reasonable time. Incredible seller and native carver!!! Awesome!
