READ DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY Tape measurements read: Top to Bottom (Length): 64 cm Sleeve Opening: 17 cm Left to Right (width) : 57cm Neckline: 20cm Size Extra Large if plan to wear after purchase I had it framed after KURT’S passing because it felt like i was wearing a screen print of the “Mona Lisa” There are many ways this artwork has been replicated to sell merch and posters but this one particular shirt does not fall in that category. The flaws have been preserved using artistic integrity in chronological appreciation inspired by the characteristics of wear on tear that often grow in time with personal collections of vintage items. This rendition is the original unreleased version that was not available for purchase at the time. In the 90’s and all of the years before, the only way to purchase merchandise was to attend the event. Often people did make friends while over seas and on trips when internet connected niche groups there were sites dedicated to trade merch and stories with one another. People at this time took a lot for granted and have considered this experience “just an ordinary job” or “another day at the office.” Being in close proximity to bands and superstars was not praised and often felt like being a butler to the royals however times have changed and those people often overlooked the ability to exploit and capitalized on other talents. The untapped potential of the black market for rare gems often presented as gifts to people in attendance or working on set during the filming for any tour or recorded performance was not even a fantasy that could be conceived. Imagine coming home and saying to your partner “I worked three straight days breaking my back to build a stage so that (any legendary band) can practice on and then perform some stupid songs and the pay was a lousy 20 bucks a day and all I got was this crappy t shirt.” i don’t even like the band or listen to their music. That was the scene. The people on set were talented and passionate in their own way and did not use the job as a way to meet the band. This shirt was never sold, and was never made in large scale production. The only way to own the original version of this show was being present during the now legendary Nirvana performance of MTV Unplugged in New York City. The production of the “MTV UNPLUGGED” series invited bands to perform live and of course Nirvana had already turned down several offers. At this point in time they had reached unparalleled levels of success becoming one of the most influential grunge rock bands based out of Seattle that pioneered the new sound of alternative forms of rock music. UNLIKE any other item this product is an officially licensed treasure with regards for artistic integrity. Also protected by the law of licensing and cannot be replicated. Beginning with a captivating origin of inception and organic innovation free of modification this should purchased under the classification that the item is an original work of art. The design manifested chronological events consumed over 30 years using memorabilia gifted to staff members that helped coordinate the event. Most of the people on set were the staff and invited guests. To most this was just another T shirt so naturally the people that were true fans never had a chance to purchase in true Hollywood fashion The story of the Nirvana performance on this stage goes beyond iconic beginning with the fact Cobain refused to compromise the bands reputation by agreeing to conform and join a list of “pop” acts that were previously featured on the show and performed tacky versions of sell out hits under the restraints of acoustics. Instead he chose to make matters even more difficult by making MTV submit to his demands and allow him to continue to defy regulations starting with inviting artists from less popular bands that were aligned with Nirvana to perform as a collective. Kurt also chose to perform some of the lesser known material and covered 6 songs from other artists as a tribute. His demands were met and the performance was filmed in ONE SINGLE TAKE while Cobain was withdrawing from drugs and increasingly irritable. Kurt had made everyone involved uncomfortable during two days of rehearsals and he arranged the decor of the stage , using his words, be set up “EXACTLY LIKE A FUNERAL”. Unbeknownst at the time, there were limited opportunities for me to extrapolate the greatness of entire performance however I did preserve this item to commemorate being part of one of the most epic performances in history. Nirvana was lead by one of the most controversial talents in history. I applied my artistic passion to personal preservation of a relic that has been unmodified since the night of the performance and passing the tragic passing of Kurt Cobain. I have retained 30 years of unmodified conditions and I am open to negotiations.
