Description

A vintage/antique Mexican Folk Art Potosi Huastecan Indian Pottery Jar Water Pot Vessel. It appears to have been made in Mexico at San Luis Potosi by the Huastecan Indians. The potting style and design elements are traditional to the Huastecan people with the floral and swirl designs being the most common. The pots are rare and hard to find intact since they were used items and were often broken. The age is unknown but most likely would have been made in the mid to early 20th century. The pot measures approximately 8.5"H x 12" in diameter and weighs 4 lb. 7oz. It is handcrafted and hand painted-white slip over a red clay pottery, black painted fanning spirals, with flowers and plant elements in the design. No history is available, but the pot is in very good vintage condition, with only a couple of small chips, only normal wear/scuffs consistent with its age and use-see photos! An excellent find for your personal collection and display pieces!
