LONGINES 13ZN FLYBACK This 1936 Longines watch is an exceptional example of a 1930s chronograph, preserved in its original condition. It features a 34mm 18k gold case, marked with the owl hallmark (visible in an oval frame on the case, lugs, and back), and solid gold wire lugs. The watch is powered by the esteemed Longines 13ZN caliber, which includes a Breguet balance spring and a flyback mechanism. The watch runs keeping great time, the chronograph function works properly. The original sandwich/multi-scale dial is visually striking, showcasing a complex design with an external telemeter scale, an inner spiral tachymeter scale, Arabic numerals, and two subdials for continuous seconds and 30-minute timing. Very few pieces with the original sandwich dials have survived, making this timepiece a true museum piece and a dream for any Longines collector. This 13ZN chronograph is one of the oldest and rarest Longines flyback watches, distinguished by its unique two-tone sandwich/multi-scale dial featuring rare Arabic numeral markers. NB: The case is not marked 18k, but it has been verified and it features three French (Owl hallmarks) indicating it is indeed 18k gold. The case remains unpolished, and the lugs are still sharp. Although there are several minor scratches & dents on the case, I chose not to repair them in order to preserve the watch in original unrestored condition.
