Doremi ShowVault 4 (4RU) — Overview The ShowVault 4 is a dedicated digital cinema storage and playback server designed to work exclusively with the Doremi IMB installed inside a Series-2 DLP projector (Barco, Christie, NEC, etc.). It is the "brain" that holds all movie content and sends it securely to the IMB for decryption and display. Key Specifications FeatureDetailsForm Factor 4RU rack-mount chassis Motherboard SuperMicro X7SBE OS Custom Linux (Doremi-modified) Codec Support DCI JPEG-2000 and MPEG-2 Interop Max Bitrate Up to 250 Mbits/sec Color Formats 12-bit 4:4:4 (2K/4K) or 10-bit 4:2:2 (3D/HFR) Storage 3x SATA HDDs in software RAID-5 (LVM-based) RAID Type Software RAID-5 (fakeRAID) — drives must be same make, model, and capacity; do not mix SATA I and SATA II Max Write Speed Approximately 80–180 MB/s in practice (limited by mechanical HDDs and RAID overhead) Boot Device Internal USB SSD flash drive (this is what boots the OS and CineLister) Projector Link External PCIe cable to IMB board in projector Ethernet 2x Gigabit Ethernet (one for file transfer/ingest, one for control and subtitling) Serial RS-422 serial control port Front USB 1x USB 2.0 (for external HDD, keyboard, or mouse) Rear I/O PS-2 keyboard & mouse, VGA, USB, COM port (DB-9) Default IP 192.168.100.50 (Eth1) Default Login Username: doremi / Password: doremi Operating Temp Maximum 35°C ambient Software CineLister (pre-loaded show scheduling and playlist management) Why It Boots to CineLister Without the RAID The ShowVault's operating system does NOT live on the RAID drives. It runs from a separate internal USB SSD flash drive on the SuperMicro motherboard. The RAID drives only hold movie content (DCPs, KDMs, SPLs). So even with the RAID completely removed, the unit will still: Power on normally Boot into Linux Launch CineLister automatically Show the interface as usual The only thing missing without the RAID is the actual content storage — you won't be able to hold or play any movies. CineLister will show an empty library. How It's Used 1. Content Ingest Movies (DCPs) are loaded onto the ShowVault either via: Gigabit Ethernet — from a central LMS (Library Management System) or FTP server USB 2.0 — from an external hard drive connected to the front panel 2. Show Scheduling with CineLister CineLister opens automatically on boot. From here you: Build Show Playlists (SPLs) — feature + trailers + ads in order Add Automation Cues to control lights, sound processors, curtains, etc. Assign KDMs to encrypted content Select 2D, 3D, or 4K display mode per SPL 3. Playback When a show is triggered, the ShowVault sends the decrypted content stream over the PCIe cable to the IMB inside the projector, which handles the final decryption and outputs to the projector's light engine. 4. RAID Maintenance Notes All three RAID drives should be the same make, model, and capacity Do not hot-swap drives while the unit is running To reinitialize the RAID: run sh /doremi/sbin/reinitraid.sh from terminal (this is destructive — all content will be erased) RAID rebuild takes several hours and the unit cannot be used for playback during this process
