Measuring 16"x20", the painting highlights Richard's wonderful rendering of the desert dry lake environment, capturing the reflections in the pool of water near a gaggle of blackbirds, hiding and perching in the dry grass on the southern slopes of the Dos Cabezas Mountains of southern Arizona. Starting from childhood, he showed extraordinary talent, leading to many awards and art opportunities as a youth. As a young adult, Richard attended Chouinard's Art Institute in Los Angeles. Marrying artist Susi Nagoda, they developed a line of ceramic pieces, including the famous Santo figurines, and later Susi’s re-imagining of Native American mythological figurines, inspired by her Arizona childhood experiences. Richard continues today pursuing his long love of painting and pastel, his style takes inspiration from the great French Impressionists.
