Hand-colored Print by Frenchman Edouard Traviès Edouard Traviès should be better known as a fine avian artist: his accurate, life-infused paintings of birds were featured in a series of books published in Paris in the 19 th century, none in large numbers. He’s under-appreciated in part, we think, because those prints appeared in rather small formats, lacking the impact of larger prints . We offer several fine Traviès prints, scarce gems we think. 1 ) Scarlet Macaw #1 and Blue-and-yellow Macaw #2 on one print by Traviès, published in Paris in ca. 1850. Print ca. 5 1/4” w x 8 ¾” tall (image size ca. 3.5” w x 6” tall); in excellent condition. Scarce. $40
