Antique Limoges Individual ButterPat Dish/A. Lanternier/Whiteware/France/22kTrim. Made in Limoges, France. Manufactured by A. Lanternier in what is considered the golden age of Limoges Production. Made with Kaolin, considered the “secret ingredient” discovered near Limoges that allows porcelain to remain bright white and translucent after being fired. This is an amazing, rare, highly sought after antique individual butter pat dish made sometime between 1891 and 1914. It is only about 3” in diameter! Butter pat dishes lost their popularity about 1920 with modern refrigeration advancements. Made in Limoges, France. Manufactured by A. Lanternier in what is considered the golden age of Limoges Production. Double marked on the underside with the green underglaze stamp and the blue over glaze decorating stamp. The green stamp proves the 22k gold trimmed edge was added at production and not added afterwards. Made with Kaolin, considered the “secret ingredient” discovered near Limoges that allows porcelain to remain bright white and translucent after being fired. Pre owned and considering its age of 100 years +, in very good condition. There is one extremely tiny chip along the edge and I have highlighted in the pictures. The chip is smaller than the head of a pin and I can only see it from the underside of the dish, not the top. No cracks. I can’t see any crazing. I usually ship the next business day. This butter pat dish comes from a smoke and pet free home. I always try to use recycled/reused materials to ship. Thank you supporting my small business.
