This listing is for a 1915 copper-plated brooch from the Chicago Hebrew institute. This brooch measures 1" across. The Chicago Hebrew institute was founded in 1903 on the Near West Side of Chicago to promote the moral, physical, religious, and civic welfare of Jewish immigrants and residents serving as a key institution in the Americanization of Eastern European immigrants. It offered Jewish people a diverse range of experiences in Jewish American life, through programs in adult education, along with a library, a Jewish museum, and a summer camp for girls. In 1922, the Chicago Hebrew Institute was renamed the Jewish People’s Institute. The front of the brooch has the organization's initials, "CHI", overlaid in the center of a Star of David and pictures a person running and says "CHICAGO HEBREW "INST. 1915" The back is stamped "WM.
