Produced by Alba — Seiko's boldly experimental sub-brand — the Spoon Web series occupies a uniquely wild corner of JDM watch culture. The W440 wears horizontally on the wrist, turning the conventional watch orientation on its side entirely. The result is something that looks closer to a piece of sci-fi wearable technology than a conventional timepiece, and in the red and black colorway this example presents in, it is absolutely impossible to miss. The reference is W440-4000, module A0, serial 921189, Made in Japan. Construction is noted on the caseback as stainless steel plus base metal plus plastics, water resistant 10 bar — meaningful water resistance for a watch of this design ambition. The case houses a wide rectangular landscape-oriented display showing ALBA SPOON WEB and WATER 10BAR RESIST labeling, with red-accented button legends for Mode/Cha, Adjust, Shift, and Light across the top edge. Navigation is handled by Left, Enter, and Right controls along the lower portion of the display face, with a large round pusher crown at the bottom of the case. Five black oval pushers line one side of the case for function control. The strap is a two-tone red and black rubber design, textured on the inner surface for grip and comfort. Case width measures 34.6mm confirmed by caliper. Strap/lug width is 15.9mm. The watch fits a wrist in the 7" to 7.25" range based on the wrist sizer photo. The watch is fully operational and running as confirmed in the photos. Condition This is an honestly worn example and the photos show everything clearly. The red plastic case shows surface scuffing, paint wear, and light scratching throughout — most visible on the corners, edges, and case sides. The chrome/silver metal portions of the case show scratching and surface wear consistent with use. The caseback shows a few scratches. The display face glass shows light scratches visible under certain angles. The strap is aftermarket - it remains fully functional and intact. This is a good used condition piece representing a rare and genuinely unusual JDM collectible. It is priced and presented accordingly as a used vintage piece, not a pristine specimen.
