Mineral: Fluorite Locality: Cave-in-Rock, Cave-In-Rock Mining Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA Measurements: 12.8cm x 12.3cm x 6.5cm Weight: 1215g A large and hefty fluorite from Illinois. The crystals are so dark purple that they almost look black. With strong backlighting the edges glow vibrant purple and contrast nicely against the remaining darker crystals. Interestingly, the cores of the crystals are yellow as you can see on the underside of the piece. This specimen has a visible repair which you can see in the third-last photo, otherwise in great condition. ID: 439.13
